TROON PRIVÉ CONNECT 23 22 TROON PRIVÉ CONNECT T HE AWESOME VIEWS of nearby 12 million year old rock formations remain the same at Terravita Golf Club in North Scottsdale but many other things are evolving from the clubhouse to membership opportunities to the instruction staff All of the changes are designed to make one of Arizonas premier private residential communities even better than it has long been The club which derives its name from the Latin words terra land or earth and vita life occupies 823 acres of classic desert landscape and is well known for a special camaraderie enjoyed by residents and golf club members Developed just over 20 years ago Terravita is centered around a golf club that has been member owned since 1999 In fact new membership opportunities are now available In July we announced a special membership sales promotion primarily targeting new Terravita residents as well as non residents said Hannah Enriquez Membership Director We were excited to see golf memberships sold during the typically slow summer months as a result of L A N D L I F E OF THE Terravita Golf Club By Tom Mackin P R I V É S P OT L I G H T this promotion and look forward to continuing the momentum come the fall when many return to the state of Arizona New members will find Terravita Golf Club not only offers an outstanding golf course but also a welcoming membership to create an experience that goes way beyond simply playing the game ENGAGING LAYOUT Whether youve just joined or are an existing member the clubs 7075 yard layout provides plenty to think about Its a course that is generous enough off the tee but its not boring said Joey Pickavance Terravitas Director of Golf There are specific holes where you have to drive it well There are also specific holes where the approach shot has to be below the hole And the greens have subtle breaks that you really have to pay attention to Enhanced by an abundance of Palo Verde trees and towering Saguaro cacti the course had undergone only minor changes until 2014 when all 18 greens were redone More recently a bunker repair project was completed in August The course plays very well for our members said Pickavance We have five sets of tees so the course can play as long and difficult as you like With most of the greens you can have the ball release and roll up but there are others that do require a forced carry Its a good combination According to Pickavance there is no place for cruise mode or sleeper moments on the course designed by the late Billy Casper and Greg Nash You have to be thinking all the time as you navigate your way around he said Standout holes include two massive par 5s the double dogleg 610 yard third and the doglegright 594 yard 14th But the mostdiscussed hole is the 442 yard 10th This tough par 4 features a barranca and riverbed that runs through the fairway approximately 240 yards off the tee Then theres a long second shot to a green bordered by a large lake on the right The practice facility a doubleended driving range with plenty of turf also comes with a short game practice area Those are first rate practice facilities said Pickavance terravitas unique setting provides dramatic desert scenery but ample room to hit the ball NEW MEMBERS WILL FIND TERRAVITA GOLF CLUB NOT ONLY OFFERS AN OUTSTANDING GOLF COURSE BUT ALSO A WELCOMING MEMBERSHIP TO CREATE AN EXPERIENCE THAT GOES WAY BEYOND SIMPLY PLAYING THE GAME
